Responsibilities: Plan, design and implement satellite broadband data networks, and specific features and functionality for these communication networks applying knowledge of modern network protocols, technologies and design tools. Perform a Technical lead role for network System Design (requirements, design, simulation/modeling) and Algorithms for the Network Layer of a Satellite System. To include traffic management and flow control algorithms and methods to handle new industry transport protocols such as TCP using BBR and QUIC and integrating new technologies such as Software Defined Networking and Segment Routing - IPv6 (SRv6). Perform network modeling, analysis and capacity planning in order to: establish the logical network designs; provide the developers of various network systems components with the necessary design specifications; and to resolve emerging network issues. Provide technical leadership to the implementation team delivering network software to be implemented within Satellite Broadband Data Systems, and meeting System Requirements; to include providing guidance on requirements, implementation design trade-offs, coordinating Interface Control Documents and schedule with other interfacing components, assisting with schedule and release content, and guiding the priority of fixes on defects. Design and prototype novel Machine Learning (ML) techniques to be incorporated into the Satellite Broadband Data Networks to augment, enhance or replace traditional algorithms in use, particularly in the field of traffic prioritization, congestion and flow control, and to evaluate the performance of satellite network systems and to analyze network data to recommend hardware or software enhancements necessary for improved Quality of Experience on the network. Design methods to gain visibility of the operation of network function and performance, including utilizing those methods to troubleshoot and validate the overall functionality of the network system design. Present and explain network architecture, design and operation to implementation teams, integration and test engineers, internal management teams, external customers, and vendors to assist each their required understanding of network design and operation. Basic Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Networking 3 years of experience in the position or in a related computer network architect, software developer or network engineer position. As an alternative, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Networking 5 years of experience in a related computer network architect, software developer or network engineer position will be acceptable. Special Requirements: 3 years of domain experience acquired within the satellite broadband data network design and delivery industry in a planning/architect or application developer role. 3 years of experience acquired in network Systems Design Development including simulation/modeling in a planning/architect or application developer role. 6 months experience planning or Implementing Cisco Router Configuration and employing the Network Tools: Wireshark and iPERF. 6 months experience employing any of the following scripting languages: Python, Perl, or Shell; and any of the following programming languages: C, C , or Java. #DNPCB #DNPAJE #DNPGD #LI-DNI EchoStar is committed to offering a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
