Position Title: Instructor, Auto Maintenance, Light Repair
The Instructor, Auto Maintenance, Light Repair position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of the Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program-eligible youth ages 16-24.
Summary of Duties:
Instructs students in the repair of vehicles such as automobiles and light trucks by performing the
following duties
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide students with quality career technical training instruction in a safe and clean environment which results in high completion and placement performance.
- Motivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems, or study habits; coordinate with counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
- Develop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materials.
- Participate in student evaluation of students’ progress (ESP); establish quality goals for students during each evaluation period.
- Maintain students’ accountability by documenting class attendance (class periods) daily.
- Maintain and monitor progress and attendance records, frequently update individual student progress on training achievement records (TARS).
- Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs, and recommend purchases.
- As applicable, assist in the planning and implementation of CTST projects, and provide supervision of students assigned to CTST projects or other center career and technical training projects.
- Provide students with experiences and practices to help them meet each of the eight career success standards.
- Assist in developing community linkages and work-based learning (WBL) sites for the career and technical training department.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
- Provide positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and other center customers.
- Ensure students learn and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness success.
- Support and promote center zero-tolerance policies.
- Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

Education/Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid state driver’s license
- CPR/First Aid certifications
- Vocational Education credential, preferred
