Description
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor of Newport Mesa Family Resource Center (NMFRC), the Information and Resource Specialist will have the responsibility of providing registrations, information, linkages, and referrals to families desiring services pertaining to basic needs, mental health, case management, housing, and other basic services. This position is also responsible for data entry and outreach.
Respond to walk-in, call-in, emailed, and referred clients seeking community resources.
Assess clients immediate needs and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
Perform outreach to the community, businesses, and schools; represents NMFRC at community events; assists with preparations for FRC events.
Perform screenings of clients requesting services and complete conflict checks.
Administer FaCT approved measurement tools and enter results into the FaCT database.
Organize and distribute emergency assistance supplies; receive and sort public donations to the FRC.
Performs administrative duties including, but not limited to, answering phones, filing, data entry, record keeping, ordering supplies, and setting up and supporting with maintenance of office furniture.
Ensure all documentation and assessments are completed and entered into corresponding databases (i.e. ETO, Vista Share) within designated timeframes.
Support the development of prevention and education promotional strategies for a variety of outreach and engagement events, including Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Elder Abuse Awareness, and other local and nationally recognized campaigns at FRC.
Qualifications
High School diploma or commensurate work experience.
Proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Adaptability and flexibility while working in a dynamic work environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation.
Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse issues.
Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
Ability to take initiative, multitask under pressure and be a self-starter.
Completion of 40-hour California Emergency Management Agency approved Domestic Violence Counselor Training (or must be completed upon hiring).
