Responsibilities
The Actuary may be responsible for any combination of valuation, pricing, analytics, forecasting, risk, compliance, and operations. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.
The Actuary within the Enterprise Risk Management team of the Chief Risk Office, will be responsible for working with business leaders across the organization to identify, assess, and monitor key business risks, particularly risks associated with critical quantitative models and/or other financial risks.
- Lead independent peer reviews of complex quantitative models used across various business areas including actuarial, finance, and/or various data science teams
- Partner with modeling teams and stakeholders on a variety of model risk initiatives including model maturity assessments as well as the ongoing monitoring and reporting of key model risk metrics
- Partner with Actuarial and Finance leaders to conduct a variety of financial scenario analysis activities
- Partner with key modeling teams and stakeholders to develop and roll out modeling guidance and/or training resources to promote continuous process improvement
- Provide appropriate guidance and oversight for enterprise-wide model risk management applications and the enterprise model inventory
- Prepare presentations and reporting for a variety of key stakeholders including risk working groups, Humana executive leadership, Board of Directors, and external entities such as Departments of Insurance.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- FSA or ASA plus relevant advanced degree, recent and relevant work experience, and/or other relevant professional designations.
- MAAA
- 3 years of health actuarial work experience
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in more than two functions (e.g., modeling, pricing, rate filing, reporting & analysis, reserving or trending)
- 5 years of experience in developing, maintaining, and/or overseeing complex actuarial, financial, and/or data science models
- 2 years of project leadership experience
- Strong communications and presentation skills
- Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
- Ability to influence leaders at a variety of levels and build consensus
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to lead complex projects to completion using project management methodologies
- Knowledge of key Humana business areas or functions
- Demonstrated track record of success
- Experience and understanding of risk management and control processes
- Relevant professional certifications
