Responsibilities
The Director, Pharmacy Pipeline requires a broad understanding of pharmacy and managed care to develop and/or implement strategies that translate clinical information into financial projections to ensure Humana profitability. He/she requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function and segments of Humana Inc.
Responsibilities
- Lead our medical and pharmacy drug pipeline process, monitoring drugs in development and new drug approvals
- Leads a team of clinical pharmacists and financial analysts that serve as subject matter experts in assigned therapeutic areas who research and analyze drugs and emerging therapeutics, including financial forecasts
- Proactively monitors relevant publicly available news/developments in the pharmaceutical sector to direct relevant drug pipeline investigations
- Partners with clinical and business professionals, actuaries and operations in a team environment
- Develop corporate communications of high quality to be shared with senior leadership such as drug pipeline updates and market event notifications
- Presents to senior leadership on key metrics including drug pipeline impacts
- Contribute to Humana formulary strategy as it relates to pipeline products
- Participates in Humana Pharmacy committees as appropriate
- Invest in the development of associates, and the growth of the team
Required Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Clear and active Pharmacist license in the state(s) in which you are required to practice
- Eight (8) years of clinical experience in managed care or equivalent experience
- Five (5) years’ experience in effectively leading direct reports and cross-functional teams
- Three (3) years of experience drug pipeline or trend analysis
- Strong track record of driving solutions that achieved clinical and financial outcomes
- Exceptional cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- Impeccable oral and written communication skills, as well as the polish, poise, and executive presence to effectively interact with and present to external partners and executive and senior-level stakeholders
- Very disciplined; has the ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively within a large and complex organizational structure
- Ability to engage, educate, influence and guide matrixed teams at all levels on the concepts, opportunities and strategy of managing traditional, specialty, and novel medications
- Ability to influence and build relationships with people across all levels and organizations internally and externally
- Able to demonstrate adaptability and timeliness when urgent requests or projection alterations are required
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, pharmacoeconomics or health outcomes training
- Board Certified Pharmacist
- Experience in finance and/or business-related pharmacy practice

- Must be able to work during core business hours, Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM EST
