Description
The Environmental Health & Safety Professional 2 develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Responsibilities include industrial hygiene, life safety, and ergonomic compliance-related activities. The Environmental Health & Safety Professional 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.Responsibilities
In support of Humana’s goal of promoting lifelong well-being, the EH&S Professional supports the successful delivery and oversight of EH&S processes including:
Assists with the development and delivery of safety and environmental written and training programs (e.g., HAZCOM, PPE, LOTO, PITs, Respiratory Protection, Hazardous Waste, etc.).
Maintains facility Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management system.
Manages hazardous waste profiles, manifests, scheduling pickups, and recordkeeping.
Conducts facility walk-throughs, inspections, and evaluations of the environment, equipment, and processes to ensure a safe work environment.
Leads and trains supervisory personnel in accident investigations including Root Cause Analysis and coordinates corrective action(s) to closure.
Oversees industrial hygiene programs (e.g., noise and pharmaceutical dust surveys, etc.).
Assists in identifying and resolving critical environmental and safety regulatory issues.
Conducts Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee meetings and safety inspections on a monthly basis and maintains recordkeeping.
Manages any safety and regulatory violations and ensure all corrective actions are taken to closure in a timely matter.
Coordinates with site-security to identify safety/security issues and reports to site leadership on all matters.
Maintains OSHA 300 Log and 300A summary of work-related injuries/illnesses, and associated recordkeeping.
Works closing with pharmacy engineering by implementing engineering controls and safe work practices prior to and during the installation of new equipment.
Monitors and recommends the purchase of all personal protective equipment, first aid supplies, and other necessary safety equipment.
Provides administrative support for web-based safety systems.
Performs other work-related tasks as required and assigned.
Required Qualifications
Less than 5 years of technical experience in EH&S
Degree in safety-related field
Environmental experience (e.g., SPCC, Hazardous Waste, and Universal Waste)
Ability to work independently under general instructions and with a team
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in safety-related field
Pharmaceutical industry experience
DOT Hazardous Material Certification
3 years of experience as an EH&S Manager
CSP Certification
