Responsibilities
- Help guide the Scrum Team on how to use Scrum and/or other agile methodologies and patterns to deliver high-quality products and services to customers.
- Begin to navigate through different coaching stances deliberately (coaching, mentoring, teaching, facilitating) while growing the agile skills and mindset of team members.
- Support an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
- Learn to get team(s) to a high-performing level by nurturing self-organization and team cohesion.
- Co-facilitate and support all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Support PI Planning, System Demos and Inspect and Adapt sessions.
- Co-mentor the Product Owner in user story creation, prioritization and Product Backlog Refinement while ensuring the team focuses on technical needs, including improvements to testing and deployment processes.
- Begin to facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes.
- Regularly utilizes data and team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability, & maturity
- Help make work visible and ensure impediments are removed.
- Help teams navigate through organizational change leveraging change management frameworks such as Kotter’s Leading Change and PROSCI ADKAR.
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to support contribution to the continuous improvement of Agile practices within the organization, including sharing with the Communities of Practice.
- Understands work impact, concepts/strategies and operating objectives including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions informed by parameters for work expectations and quality standards and has latitude over interpretation of policies determining approach, priorities and work methods. Follows established policies/practices with opportunity for deviation.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically 3 years related experience with 1-3 years as a scrum master
- Strong presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills
- Strong bias for action
- Thrives in an VUCA environment (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous)
- Validated agile learning/credentials such as CSM, A-CSM, SA, PSM, IC Agile such as ACC (IC-Agile , IC-Agile ATF(Agile Team Facilitator)
- Experience with Agile Tracking tools (agile lifecycle management tools) such as ADO, Jira, VersionOne, Rally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field
- 2 years of experience on a Scrum Team in a SAFe agile environment.
- Experience working with agile methodologies on large scale, technically complex projects
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework(SAFe)
- Understanding of agile methodologies, values, practices and patterns.
- Experience coaching and mentoring others
- Experience facilitating the removal of impediments
- Experience with Lean and implementing a process improvement mindset
- Experience with testing practices (Gherkin) and DevOps
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops as a product backlog tool

All Humana associates approved for the Home or Hybrid Home/Office work styles are required to self-provide wireless, wired cable or DSL access to the internet at the connectivity speeds required by the company to successfully perform their job with the exception of associates who live or work from home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended to support Humana applications, per associate.
Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if they provide an optimal connection for associates. The use of these methods must be approved by leadership. (See Wireless, Wired Cable or DSL Connection in Exceptions, Section 7.0 in this policy.)
Humana will not pay for or reimburse Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates for any portion of the cost of their self-provided internet service, with the exception of associates who live or work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota. Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
