Overview
Under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, functions as the systems expert for the assigned business lines. Responsible for identifying system requirements, understanding complex business functions, and developing detailed specifications to solve business process functions and meet user requirements. Role also involves planning and designing of systems integration, managing system upgrades/enhancements, in-depth testing/debugging applications, writing application related documentation and resolving day-to-day system issues and problems. May, on occasion, assign, and/or supervise the work of others and/or provide functional guidance to one or more analytical staff members.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Communicates with visitors, fellow employees, medical staff and guests in a positive and professional manner. Keeps supervisor and co-workers informed. Acts as a liaison.
Serves as systems expert for assigned business lines. Meets with users to determine quality of service. Efficient in completing user requests. Researches and analyzes computerized system methods and best practices and recommends those best suited for enhancing the productivity and efficiency of DMH operations for assigned business lines.
Provides direct operational support. Determines specific system and application configurations for assigned business lines. Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in completing regular duties and specially assigned tasks.
Coordinates the planning, design, and deployment of new installations, upgrades and enhancements and the development and implementation of disaster/recovery (downtime) procedures.
Maintains complete and accurate documentation; task and project based. Utilizes IS Helpdesk software application. Assigns issue priorities and maintains work scheduled required to meet project deadlines.
Provides effective computer system support by assisting in diagnosing and solving network or server operating malfunctions in a timely manner. Works closely with IS technical personnel in planning and problem resolution.
Conducts informal education of end users on network operations and applications; promotes use of standard operating practices. Assesses training needs among system users and actively participates in training activities.
Reports to the hospital, according to departmental procedure on responding to call, if the problem cannot be solved in a remote manner.
Completes special projects as requested by the IS Director.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience RequiredEducation/Licensure: Requires general knowledge acquired through a four-year college education or equivalent experience. Experience: One to two years experience in a directly related Information System role preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities: Previous experience in assigned business lines and/or healthcare setting highly desirable. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
