What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Field Crews position at Hurt & Proffitt, Inc.?
This is an entry level position in our Survey Department at our Blacksburg location. The ideal candidate(s) would be able to work long hours with the potential for a lot of overtime, but is not guaranteed every week, should be open to travel out of town at times. Applicants will be preferred who can demonstrate a solid work history.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate surveying equipment such as levels, rods, and transits
- Dig holes, clear brush, heavy lifting and perform other physical tasks as needed
- Communicate effectively with other members of the survey team
- Ensure that safety procedures are followed on the job site
- Carry equipment and supplies, and keep surveying equipment in good condition
- Walking over rough terrain, and may even sometimes include crossing wooded/forested land
- Perform other duties as assigned by the survey party chief or project manager
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a survey team
- Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to adhere to safety guidelines
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license with good driving history
