What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool + Die Tech position at Hussey Copper?
Hussey Copper has an opening at our Eminence KY location for a Tool and Die Technician
Duties:
- Follow all safety and PPE requirements as established by management.
- Master mathematic skills necessary to set up, and perform component inspections, manual machining trigonometry.
- Maintain an expert-level knowledge of punching processes, including anatomy, assembly, and operation of tools and dies.
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication principles necessary to build specialized equipment and support maintenance, engineering, and production, including (but not limited to) Mig/Tig Welding, Sheet metal fabrication, etc.
- Change out and set up tooling as necessary for production support.
- Test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair dies, Molds, Turret press tooling, part fixturing, CNC tooling, etc. as needed for production support.
- Advise Engineering department regarding tooling decisions ranging from part troubleshooting to tooling repair, to inspection of new equipment as requested by Engineering department.
- May be required to complete specialized production runs on occasions wherein qualified production employees are not available.
- Assist Engineering department as required to produce new part fixturing, processes, etc.
- Ability to heat treat, anneal, and machine a wide variety of materials.
- Make machine adjustments as necessary.
- Comprehend Inspection, blue prints, drawings, order flow copy and all commonly used documents in the facility.
- Operate crane as needed
- Operate fork trucks as needed
- Practice good housekeeping. This will include but is not limited to, sweeping, keeping work areas free of all clutter, and proper storage of all tools and related work items..
- May be required to train.
- Ability to use standard tools but not limited to, deburring tools, hand tools, power tools.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues immediately to direct Supervision and/or maintenance personnel.
- Maintain a coherent and working relationship with production department to ensure real-time, effective support during production runs.
Training/Experience Requirements
- Journeyman Toolmaker Apprenticeship or Equivalent
- 4-6 Years employment in a similar role
- High School Diploma/GED.
