Heavy Equipment Operator

Position Purpose: The purpose of the Heavy Equipment Operator / Laborer is to safely operate heavy equipment, provide labor and assist customers as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Safe operation of all heavy equipment including, wheel loaders, excavators, bulldozers and rubber tire backhoes.
• Process and load material for customers. Must be able to estimate load size for a vehicle and not over or under load a truck.
• Perform pre - and - post operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with safety policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear-view camera are clean.
• Preventive maintenance responsibilities to include; continuously monitoring the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time, clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Check, service and assist in making minor and emergency adjustments, repairs, and maintenance in the field.
• Perform other work as assigned when not engaged in operating equipment including labor and general maintenance of all areas of the recycling area as needed.
• Must keep a clean work area and do general cleanup around all areas.

Knowledge & Skills

• Crusher, grinder or screener experience is a plus.
• CDL is a plus.
• Great customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers.
• Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed and / or 6 days a week when required.
