Job Summary:
This position will be assigned to the Extrusion department. This position will also work closely with Maintenance in Uptime & Reliability improvement activities.
The Process Technician designs, plans and implements new improved process solutions in order to drive continuous systematic improvement and the elimination of waste in our manufacturing processes. Also, leads departmental and/or plant strategic projects and initiatives; such as, new CAPEX projects for equipment, new business launch, product development, etc. This position will also support quality and production in driving improvements which will lead to lower PPM while improving efficiencies in rates, recoveries and uptime.
Required Education/Experience:
- Post-secondary degree preferred, or equivalent in education, experience, and knowledge will be considered
- Three to five years of experience in manufacturing and familiarity with ISO Standards
Expert level of competence with metrology tools (Calipers, Height Gages, etc.)
Must have in depth Extrusion Press knowledge
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to stand or sit for extended period of time.
- Ability to create A3’s for practical problem solving
- Ability to understand production goals and hit targets
- Must have necessary hearing, vision, speech to perform all functions of job
- Moderate frequency of: bending, reaching, grasping, lifting 5-25 pounds
Job Responsibilities:
- Maximize extrusion productivity, flow of extruded products to downstream customers, and delivery performance while minimizing extrusion’s costs and quality problems as measured by process scrap and recovery.
- Maintain run to recipe and push time gain metrics.
- Doesn’t have to include everything in Job
- Lead training activities with production personnel regarding Quality and Press Operation
- Lead and coach team member in the appropriate use of problem-solving techniques i.e. 5Whys and Cause and Effect Diagrams, for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action. Drive corrective action activities resulting from the analysis.
- Create / Update Quality Job Documents (Standard Work Instructions, Inspection Sheets and Packing Instructions).
- Prof Develop systems to support departmental and plant goals as defined in the strategic plans.
- Perform system checks to ensure established system designs are functioning and being executed as designed coaching and facilitating the need to follow system correctly to sustain effectiveness. Provide daily, monthly and yearly updates as the current condition of the department.
