Job Summary: The Training Specialist will train and certify all employees (new and incumbent) on JSA, SWI, SOP’s and departmental policy (must be able to apply skills independently), including employees who are transferring to another department or position. This position will mostly work on the second shift but may need to work a different shift if the business need arises.

Required Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum two years’ prior experience in HSE or another related role as a trainer preferred
- Minimum two years’ prior experience leading training sessions, effective teaching, coaching and presentation skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to safely lift-up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis, with a partner
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely while speaking and in writing
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Manufacturing Experience desirable; the ability to work a flexible shift is required
- Leadership; Team player; ability to work as a team; Self-starter; adaptable to change; ability to prioritize needs
- Ability to create and maintain training matrix and employee records and other reporting as required
- Ability to learn and become proficient at the manufacturing and production skills necessary to effectively train new employees.
- Must have ability to work a flexible schedule and rotate between shifts as training needs dictate

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote) & other computer programs, i.e., AS400
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains Training & Competency matrices encompassing HSE requirements, both Hydro and Legal, that stipulate job specific requirements
- Monitor new employee’s progress and provide verbal and written feedback to Department Manager
- Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with department managers, supervisors and team leads
- Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees
- Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos
- Support Department Managers and the HSE department in the review of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and SWI (Standard Work Instructions) including all safety and 5S task requirements, required for manufacturing excellence. Provide timely feedback to Department Managers regarding any discrepancies found during these audits
