Description/Job Summary

HGL provides environmental engineering, remediation, and construction services, as well as Military Munitions Response Program support to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Energy, and other federal and state government clients. Currently, HGL is seeking an Environmental Engineer in our Phoenix, Arizona office. Work executed will be a combination of in-office and fieldwork.
Responsibilities/Duties
The Environmental Engineer I will be responsible for:
- Execution of environmental field tasks and related office work.
- Assist Project Managers and project team members in the preparation of plans, reports, and technical presentations.
- Coordination with vendors and subcontractors.
- Support planning of field investigation and remediation work.
- Assist in data analysis and interpretation of environmental data using statistical and visualization tools. Perform data entry.
Required Skills
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Prior fieldwork experience.
Required Experience
- Early career position; 0-2 years of previous experience.
- Demonstrate a history of responsibility, initiative, motivation, and creativity.
- Proficiency in MS Project and MS Power Point are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with environmental investigation and remediation.
- Experience in environmental data analysis and management.
- Environmental sampling.
- Knowledge and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DOE, or USEPA projects.
Required Education
- A minimum of a BS in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related environmental field of study.
Preferred Education
- MS degree is considered a plus but is not required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to start by January-February 2023.
- To perform the duties of this position, a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes.
- Travel, overtime, and moderate physical work are routinely required.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment.
