Lawyer (In-House Counsel)

Job Description:

Summary:

Position requires an individual with a J.D. (Juris Doctorate) from an official U.S. News recognized Law School from U.S. with a bar license to practice anywhere within the 51 states. The position will be responsible for handling legal matters for the company, which includes all litigation, correspondences with external law firms, managing their billable hours, doing routine checks for any pending claims against the company. Preferred to hire someone with strong background in contracts with some familiarity in labor law / union compliance, basic immigration law knowledge, OSHA compliance knowledge, and employment law. As the acting head of the department, there are responsibilities of planning, delegating, budgeting, cooperating with other departments, and overseeing the company's ER matters. For a managerial position, there are high expectations in order to set an example for your team. This position works directly with the CEO / CFO at various times as well as other department heads.

  • Contract review, contract drafting: commercial leases, purchase agreements, confidentiality agreements, service agreements, hiring contracts, and all other types of agreements.
  • Advising H.R. department on employment law matters.
  • Coaching company personnel on labor union counseling.
  • Dealing with company matters such as registration, registered agent, pending claims.
  • Partaking in company litigation, depositions, answering claims, etc.
  • 401K compliance, FMLA, COBRA, worker’s compensation, environmental law
  • Reviewing bank loans, line of credit, bond agreements, etc.
  • Official spokesperson for the company in public setting.
  • Delegating tasks for ER members on a week-to-week basis.
  • Big picture items: planning the direction of your department for the long-term.
  • Making and planning for big events for the company.
  • Designing and starting company-wide programs (such as Attendance Incentive program, Referral program, point system).
  • Changing or adding to company policy.
  • Making internal reports.
  • Making company announcements on various issues.
  • Organizing internal meetings between different levels of staff.
  • Holding employee appreciation afternoons, snacks, etc.
  • Looking into employee issues, investigations, conflict, resolution, mediation.
  • Communicating and meeting employees by personally visiting sites.

  • Creating and managing smaller ER events.

Requirements:

-Must be able to provide public speaking.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
