JOB OVERVIEW:
The candidate, under a one-year contract, is responsible for supporting the Pentagon Community by offering a Jewish Worship service to enable the free exercise of religion. Within this one-year contract, the Contractor is required to provide a Rabbi to lead the service every Thursday. Furthermore, as part of the contractual obligations, the Contractor will work alongside the Pentagon Chaplain to assist in developing the Catholic worship service program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate shall perform the following:
· Conduct a worship service from 12:30-13:15 each Thursday or Friday, excluding Federal holidays or facility closures due to emergencies.
· Be an information resource on birth, marriage, death, sickness, and dietary needs for DoD personnel who are Jewish, as needed.
· Provide pastoral care and spiritual counseling for DoD personnel (who are Jewish) that may seek help before or after the Thursday Service
· Perform special Jewish feasts or Holy days as needed by Pentagon Chaplain.
· Maintain a sufficient workforce for uninterrupted task performance during non-closure periods.
· Ensure stability and continuity in the workforce when hiring personnel.
· Consider larger venue options within the Pentagon for special Holy Days.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess:
Ø Divinity degree or equivalent qualifications, which can include a bachelor's degree with specific graduate study components:
· 20 hours in graduate religious ministry
· 20 semester hours in theology, ethics, and philosophy of religion
· 10 semester hours in religious history or world religions
· 20 semester hours in the study of sacred writings, including relevant language studies.
Ø Jewish Chaplains Council endorsement, dated within the past 12 months.
Ø experience in providing religious care in a Chapel environment to military.
SALARY EXPECTATIONS:
The salary for this position will be discussed during the interview process based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
