SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Data Analyst position is a key team member of the Operations unit within the i3 Verticals Corporate team. This teammate will be responsible for the analysis and management of pricing grid costs and amounts billed to merchants, reviewing cost change notifications, analyzing the effect of pricing changes, and supporting the Manager of Merchant Accounting in the analysis of company portfolios and industry updates. This position also works closely with Operations teams to manage the implementation of monthly, quarterly, and annual pricing changes and process updates.
The Data Analyst will be expected to be an independent agent of change. This position will compile raw data files into databases and templates to generate trend lines, profit margin analysis, journal entries, and review data for accuracy and completeness. This individual will generate data into monthly reports, research trend lines, and forecast the effect of upcoming pricing changes. This person must be a self-starter, comfortable taking initiative, and driving projects that may directly impact company-wide operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the process of analysis of company portfolios, cost changes, and industry price changes, analyze pricing effects to company & customer and prepare notification updates to both
- Monitor and implement merchant rate changes across multiple processing platforms
- Develop a thorough understanding of the customer data and pricing options available
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with profitability, pricing, and net margins
- Daily balancing and exception reconciliation of Merchant Funds Processed, Rejected and Settled by various processors
- Translate financial data for multiple payment processors into journal entries for the Finance team
- Create and maintain documentation & trendlines to assist in future problem resolution
- May perform Contract cost analysis or modeling of alternative pricing plan design or reviewing sales volume to offer suggested pricing options to maintain profit margins or reduce our costs
- Provide general support for the operations team on pricing effects, questions, or issues
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and other tasks or analysis as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Undergraduate degree
- Preferred Background in Accounting and Finance
- Must be proficient in Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
- Experience with pricing analysis, formulas, and trendlines
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to structure and work on exploratory problems
- Demonstrated expertise in translating data and analysis into relevant implications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Preference is given to those with experience in the Payments Processing Industry
