Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Systems is excited to meet highly motivated candidates who are passionate about hardware design and possess outstanding communication and teaming skills.
Our world class I/O Firmware design team is responsible for the design and development of control firmware across the IBM mainframe storage subsystem. In this role the candidate will develop real time embedded firmware routines for FICON (Fibre Connection) and FCP (Fibre Channel Protocol) for System Z mainframe IO Adapters. Responsibilities span the entire range of product development from conception through delivery. Candidate will work with internal IBM personnel, suppliers and partners to design and deliver extremely high reliability, custom firmware code stack for I/O hardware. Bring-up and problem determination in a lab environment is a key part of this job.
Firmware Engineers in this role perform in many facets of development and test, including simulation and verification. Engineers in this role work with teammates in various disciplines to provide a complete solution. Familiarity with embedded ARM development, C/C , I2C, UART, SPI, Multi-threading, GIT, and scripting is needed.
About the Team
The position will be part of the FICON Development Team responsible for the FICON Adapters. The role will be part of the larger IO Adapter Firmware organization, providing opportunity for growth and new opportunities.

- Scripting (python, perl, bash, etc.)

- Java, C and/or C
