A The primary responsibility of an Assistant Superintendent is to aid the Superintendent with on-site coordination for wood framing, structural tie-downs, and siding on construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment. An Assistant Superintendent ensures that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Assistant Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety on jobs assigned by Superintendent and/or Construction Manager.
Job Purpose: Assistant Superintendent aids Superintendent with framing and siding projects by planning organizing and controlling projects in a fast-paced environment for turn-key framing contractor. Must possess good computer skills, organizational and people skills. Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
Job Duties:
- Complies with all PPE standards and is aware of all safety practices, follows safety rules and procedures, complies with all legal regulations.
- Maintains and enforces a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
- Solid written and oral skills, supports all functions related to framing, tie-down, siding and Zip tape operations on multiple projects
- Represents company with professionalism at all times
- Must have a solid knowledge of framing, siding, Zip tape and tie-down practices and be able to interact with sub-contractors and employees
- Must possess problems solving skills
- Expected to meet with inspectors and performs repairs during inspection.
- Performs punch work as needed, but no more than 25% of weekly work schedule
- Stacks lumber, cleans-up lots, etc. as needed
- May make deliveries of fill-in building materials to job sites and assist with material placement and movement
Daily Construction Duties:
- Reports directly to Superintendents and/or Construction Managers
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
- Update and Maintain AppWright.
- Daily safety inspections
- Expected to meet with inspectors and performs repairs during inspection.
- Performs small punch list items pertaining to inspection items as needed, but no more than 25% of weekly time
- Stacks lumber, cleans-up lots when necessary
- May make deliveries of fill-in building materials to job sites and assist with material placement and movement
- Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion.
- Walk and inspect all assigned units daily.
- Monitor activities and assist in future planning.
- Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
- Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- Ensure that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
- Assist in coordination of required inspections.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors in regard to quality of work or scheduling.
- Submit and track needed change orders. (General Contractor and Sub-Contractor)
- Must be able to lift and move lumber and metal materials
- Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends
General Job Requirements:
- Travel (in and out of state) may/will be required.
- Pre-employment physical and drug screen will be required.
- A background check will be required.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Hazards:
- Exposure to mutable types of weather conditions.
- Exposure to wood, concrete dust and debris.
- Working above floor level from 6 feet and up.
- Operating light and heavy equipment.
- Lifting material and equipment from 10 lbs. and up.
- Excessive bending, kneeling, twisting and crouching.
- Exposure to loud noise from machinery and tools.
- Exposure to falling and flying particles.
