What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Insect Technician position at ICONMA?
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities
Operating, cleaning and maintaining mosquito rearing and sorting equipment.
Assist with day-to-day mosquito production operations, provide feedback on workflow improvement and low-level troubleshooting of technical issues
Ensure mosquitoes remain within proper containment at all times.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong verbal/written communication skills (in English), ability to follow direction and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision, willingness to learn, ask questions, and identify areas for improvement
Ability to stand/walk around for long periods (often 6-8hrs a day)
Fast learner; attention to detail.
Operate and maintain automated mosquito rearing, sorting, and packing systems
Assemble parts for automated mosquito rearing systems
Aid in testing of new automated mosquito rearing systems
Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications
Background and/or interest in entomology, biology, public health, mechanical engineering, or automation.
Technical/mechanical skills (ie: wiring, robotics, etc)
