Quality Manager

Summary: Responsible for managing the quality assurance/quality control (QA) program for the cement plant to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting policies, goals and objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage plant QA program.

• Monitor and direct QA/QC personnel in day to day operations of laboratory.

• Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory/field equipment (XRF, Gamma cross-belt analyzers, PSD, XRD, TGA, etc.)

• Prepare reports, analyze data and make recommendations for improving operation or solving process related problems.

• Monitor and predict product inventories and schedule production of materials based on inventory.

• Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.

• Maintain adequate records of key QA variables on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

• Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the QA laboratory.

• Evaluate staff per plant evaluation system with focus on professional and team development.

• Maintain lab/product certifications and accreditations with various agencies.

• Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the QA laboratory is met at all times.

• Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety, health, and environmental programs for the QA/QC laboratory.

• Coordinate and communicate QA/QC activities with other departments.

• Interface with vendors and sales staff periodically.

Education and Pertinent Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific or technical field.

• Three years of experience in a QC/QA laboratory in a cement plant or equivalent experience in related testing laboratory.

• XRF analysis experience required. Analytical method development background in XRF preferred.

• Some management/leadership experience.

• Basic knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.

• Proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets. Expertise in lab data management systems with database applications and programming a plus.

• Cement process engineering and knowledge is a plus.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
