The Ceded Reinsurance Specialist will lead and coordinate ceded reinsurance tasks throughout the company. This role will provide reinsurance contract management, manage data entry into the company’s computer systems, and serve as a resource for other departments on reinsurance-related items. This position exists to support the Company’s overall business objectives by ensuring that all available ceded reinsurance is taken advantage of to achieve Company's financial goals.
This is a hybrid position. You should plan on being in the office three times a week.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provides administration of company-wide ceded reinsurance.
- Serve as a liaison with Finance, Underwriting, Claims, and IT departments regarding ceded reinsurance issues, including but not limited to rates, terms, duration, etc.
- Provide creative solutions to satisfy the ceded reinsurance needs of the company in the most efficient manner available.
- Stay current in reinsurance marketplace dynamics, the financial standing of reinsurers, emerging reinsurance solutions, etc.
- Maintain and validate data entry into the Company’s Ceded Reinsurance Management System.
- Enter data into the Treaty Database.
- Handle specific reinsurance projects as requested.
- Serve as a resource to other departments on ceded reinsurance.
Provides contract management for the ceded reinsurance department.
- Review all reinsurance contracts prior to signing by the Company, to verify content versus intent.
- Coordinate reinsurance contract changes as necessary.
- Collect and analyze data from multiple sources that impact ceded reinsurance contracts.
- Coordinate commutations of reinsurance agreements and other related issues.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required with a major or emphasis in Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3-5 years of related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Insurance industry experience preferred. Experience in a finance department desired.
- Familiarity with statutory accounting in the insurance industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Substantial command in reading and writing.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong analytical and technical aptitude and ability.
- Ability to pick up new technical skills from scratch, and confidence in the ability to learn.
- Strength with data and data manipulation is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) preferred.
- Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIFA) preferred.
