- Scope:
- Oversee and manage the company's sourcing and procurement activities.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize costs, ensure quality, and maintain timely delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and product development, to align sourcing strategies with company objectives.
2. Responsibility and Authority:
- Use superior negotiating skills, be accountable for driving and delivering favorable contract terms and best in class pricing for bottom-line financial savings and risk mitigation.
- Remain current on the competitive environment, tracking product pricing trends, and researching industry best practices. Establishes and maintains professional contacts within the major vendor types for Ideal-Tridon.
- Lead and direct employee functions such as selection, hiring, and development of employees, including making salary decisions, conducting performance reviews and creating development plans.
- Manage training of personnel, including sponsor certifications and hands-on training. Serve as a mentor.
- Anticipate and identify potential problem areas and drives resolution on all issues relating to service, delivery, performance, and cost.
- Select Purchasing methodology for domestic and international sourcing requirements. Develop supplier selection criteria, coordinate supplier ratings, meet all Sarbanes Oxley requirements, and manage the purchasing processes for Ideal.
- Assist internal customers to develop an aggregated, organized and clear set of requirements.
- Lead team evaluation of responses for suitability and conformance to Ideal’s needs and specifications.
- Lead key negotiations and provides pricing advice to internal customers and Ideal-Tridon’s staff.
- Manage and periodically reports on cost saving metrics, PPV, surcharges, and other checks/balances needed for area of responsibility. Maintains industry/product benchmarks to ensure world class pricing.
- Identify, evaluate and qualify alternate sources of supply with internal customers.
- Inform and advise internal customers and staff in a timely manner of any potential risks, shortfalls, or issues relating to the supplier in a timely manner.
- Solicit supplier's input to help identify elements of cost, delivery or performance, including any external factors that drive total cost.
- Identify cost saving opportunities through category spend aggregation and guides direction of Ideal-Tridon’s staff to leverage corporate volume.
- Develop short and long-term strategies for negotiation and administration of contracts to assure continuous, reliable service providers and takes full advantage of the total Ideal purchase volume where possible.
- Conduct strategic risk assessments by acquiring in-depth knowledge of key supplier financials, competition, and strengths/weaknesses.
- Develop a full understanding of the category or service cost drivers to determine best value and utilize same to set the corporate direction on strategy.
- Prepare professional documents and negotiation summaries to communicate with the highest levels of senior management.
- Meet established internal service level requirements; develops and drives continuous improvement.
- Develop strong supplier relationships and motivate key suppliers to continually improve product, cost, service and delivery in order to develop and sustain long term commitments and relationships.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality System and Environmental Management System.
- Maintain and protect all company proprietary and confidential information.
3. Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in sourcing or procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms.
- Proficient in sourcing and procurement tools and software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of global market trends, supply chain risks, and best practices in strategic sourcing.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with legal aspects of contract management.
- Willingness to travel as required for supplier visits and industry events.
4. Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds is required as well as international travel by plane. Have adequate eyesight to interpret financial detail and the dexterity and capability to utilize computer equipment. Possess verbal skills to meet employee training and customer presentation requirements. Maintain attendance and overtime requirements. Communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
