Role Overview:

A Solutions Architect is a communicator. Plain and simple. You need to articulate complicated BI concepts to data architects, scientists, analysts, end-users, managers, and non-technical, yet important, customers -- in a language everyone understands.

 

The Solutions Architect is a key role with our engagement with prospects and customers. As a Solutions Architect, you help prospects and customers understand how best to deploy, embed, and scale a Yellowfin deployment using recommend best practices. You achieve this by staying current on customer deployment methods and how Yellowfin is best utilized. You help our customers understand how to best design, deploy, integrate, and implement Yellowfin solutions into their environment aligned to their business needed outcomes.

 

You play a key technical leadership role in the region to help support the pre-sales, post-sales, and partner success by sharing changes in product deployment best practices, creating training content, giving technical training reviews to teams on lessons learned and updates on deployment best practice. You are the main technical voice and link to product development to ensure the product team understands any gaps in the deployment model and the Yellowfin team understands the changes in our product at a technical level.

 

A Solutions Architect has a deep knowledge of Yellowfin as well as a breadth of technical skills including solution design, security design, system architecture, data integration, databases, networking, hardware, and middleware.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure deployment standards are achieved around the design, develop, and delivery of Yellowfin.
  • Assist the regional team and customers with the understanding of best practice deployment.
  • Assist and oversee the end-to-end delivery of our BI solutions to ensure we achieve the customer desired outcome.
  • Partner with customers to formulate strategies and determine what data drives the best business decision-making needs for their end users, including ideal design, data visualization and UX flow.
  • Provide detailed technical design specifications which define the Yellowfin solution, including the target architecture and requirements for ongoing management.
  • Act as the regional Level 3 resource to help the team, customer, and partners isolate: glitches in their programs and applications, preserving/creating systems for data use, dealing with data warehouse, database storage, and other IT infrastructure issues, suggest best practice with building metadata so users can access data more efficiently, diagnosing capacity issues; etc.
  • Assist pre-sales, post-sales, and partner teams with technical engagement, providing direction to Product Consultants, and support and advice to CSM as required.
  • Responsible for the technical aptitude of the region, documenting gaps, needs, and being the funnel/bridge to product and development for issues experienced by the team, pre and post sales.
  • Identify gaps in resources that help the team win, work with the needed teams to create the content and validate it. Educate and train the regional teams with short-focused sessions on the changes in product deployment and troubleshooting, new content.
  • Experiment with new data reporting tools/technologies.
  • Coach and mentor teams around changing in-product and deployment process.
  • Keep up to date on changes in industry and product by investing in self-development, including extending technical skills and knowledge.
  • Keep up to date on customer engagement documentation in Salesforce linked to insights and activities completed.

 

Core Skills & Experience:

  • Strong systems analysis skills.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to engage with customers and prospects with varying levels of technical expertise at all levels.
  • Experience with BI or data visualization tools with building dashboards, reports, design, integrations, and embedding.
  • Knows ETL general concepts and can apply this to Yellowfin ETL deployment
  • The ability to work in a consultative manner and deliver solutions to customers that fully consider technical and commercial requirements.
  • Strong understanding of solution architecture, enterprise architecture frameworks, reference architectures, information and communication technologies, and business application patterns.
  • Strong understanding of technology strategy, architecture, and technology governance requirements.
  • Great at dealing with ambiguity and adaptable to various types of customer personalities and needs.
  • A proven problem solver: Ability to dig deep into specific data challenges and provide solutions relevant to customers’ unique requirements.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise databases, data warehouses (DWH) and related technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture including service-oriented architecture (SOA) and enterprise application integration (EAI).
  • Adaptable and able to respond to the changing needs of our customers and our business.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering are highly desirable.

 

Additional Skills & Experience:

  • 4 years industry experience.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, ETL and data integration processes.
  • Experience with software development and/or Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) requirements is desirable.
  • Experience with web technologies like JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, webservices is a strong advantage.
  • Prior Yellowfin knowledge is an advantage but not essential.
  • Team player with a focus on achieving team and customer outcomes.
