iDesign is currently looking for qualified Mathematics or English subject matter experts (SME) who enjoy experimenting with “the art of the possible” using the potential of emerging technologies to design innovative, accessible content that addresses content/themes from courses titled: Introduction to College Math and/or General College Mathematics and Introductory Written Communication and English Composition I. SME assignments are contract positions that are part-time, temporary on an as-needed basis only. The SME is a remote project-based, 1099 contractor position. We are not able to guarantee any full-time positions as a SME. The opening is for current project needs. Contractors must be located in the Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones.

What You'll Do
As the Subject Matter Experts (SME), you will work collaboratively with others to produce innovative, cutting-edge designed learning content, assessments, and other additional resources as needed, including using Open Educational Resources (OERs). You may work closely with several team members, including Learning Architects, Learning Technologists, Quality Reviewers, and Copy Editors, to ensure the design and development of future-focused, creative online learning that supports the partner's vision. You will also work with the Lead Learning Architect/Project Manager to inform them of issues impacting course design and development and project delivery. SME involvement in a project will be variable based on the workload and your availability.
The successful candidate will work remotely on a contract basis. iDesign recognizes that a quality workforce is paramount to our success.
You will:
- Experiment with the “art of the possible” in the learning experience through future-focused and creative designs.
- Collaborate with Learning Architects to design innovative, cutting-edge online courses, leveraging the latest research-based advancements and best practices in online learning.
- Establish learning outcomes and alignment of content and assessment to those learning outcomes.
- Design transformative learning outcomes, integrating content and assessment strategies that empower learners to excel.
- Create dynamic assessments that evaluate learners' understanding and inspire deeper learning and critical thinking.
- Curate a rich selection of open educational resources that maximize engagement and interactivity in the online delivery of content.
- Work with Lead Learning Architect/Project Managers to ensure all deadline dates are met throughout the design and development process.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Masters degree required, Ph.D. preferred in one of the following areas: English, Mathematics
- 3 to 5 years of curriculum development experience, preferably within higher education.
- Ability to think creatively to produce innovative introductory-level subject-specific online learning content.
- Experience working with beginning/developmental content in English or math.
- Experience using content-specific technology integrations in online learning environments.
- Experience producing instructional resources and curriculum that incorporate accessibility standards including:
- Digital accessibility and disability inclusion
- Regulations related to digital accessibility (e.g., Section 508, ADA)
- WCAG 2. AA and AAA requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and a history of positive results achieved collaboratively.
- Commitment to the project from start to completion.
- Ability to work collaboratively in Google Drive and Docs.
- Ability to design and develop high-quality learning content, assessments, and modules based on specific project guidelines.
- Available to meet regularly during the week with a Learning Architect (LA) during the design and development stages.
- Ability to work independently between working meetings with LA and complete action items as identified throughout the process.
