ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair of Film and Digital Media and Stage Manager, the Assistant Stage Manager will work with students and faculty to provide an organized equipment check-out process and will be responsible for maintaining camera and lighting equipment so that it is ready for use. The Assistant Stage Manager will also help with driving equipment vans, building sets, and monitoring student productions when necessary.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Maintain the Film and Digital Media Equipment Cage - keeping it clean and organized for student and faculty safety.
- Track Inventory, monitor the Connect2 Checkout system, and prepare equipment packages for students and faculty.
- Repair or facilitate repair or replace equipment when faulty or broken.
- Set up classroom demonstrations for faculty when needed.
- Assist Stage Manager with set builds and construction.
- Drive equipment vans to set.
- Monitor student film sets when needed. Some weekends are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or higher with experience operating and maintaining cinema cameras and professional lighting gear. This position requires some knowledge in set construction including building and securing flats. Knowledge of equipment checkout systems is a plus but training on the current programs is provided. This position works with high school students directly and at times will include training students on equipment use. The ideal candidate will be organized, an active problem solver, and willing to work in a team environment and individually. Must have a valid driver's license and pass a criminal background check. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree in film-related major.
- Industry experience in camera and lighting.
- Experience working with high school students.
