What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Technical Advisor position at IEM?
Position Summary:
We are looking for highly qualified and experienced Full Time- Construction Technical Advisor (CTA) who has worked on private, federal, state or locally administered construction projects. The role of the Construction Technical Advisor is to be the face of the program when it comes to on-site inspections. The CTA performs program requested inspections to capture all issues/concerns the applicant has, this may include during the construction process, or a warranty claim after the home has been completed. The CTA plays a crucial role in the construction process from performing inspections to providing their professional knowledge and experience for items such as code compliance, quality control, and contractor interaction.
Primary Location:
- Position will be a Remote and In Office role making it a Hybrid work schedule.
- In office days will be based on business needs and could range between 1 - 5 days a week.
- All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.
Travel Requirements:
- This job will require you to travel around your selected area/district with a mileage reimbursement of $0.54/mi.
Essential Functions:
- Perform program requested field inspections.
- Contact municipalities to assist in permitting, code compliance, or any issues halting the progress of a file.
- Contact power companies to assist in getting updates as to when power will be restored.
- Reach out to municipalities on a regular basis including going into the offices to keep open communications for any permitting issues.
- Assist different internal departments with construction, permitting, inspection questions.
- Maintain a high level of service and decorum.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform meetings with Contractors for warranty work and keep internal team apprised of status of work to be performed as per program guidelines and eligibility.
- Review warranty work that will be corrected with applicant.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have relevant construction experience in the discipline applying in addition to the required certifications and qualifications.
- Must be proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance.
- Three (3) years of specific field construction inspection experience.
- Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to read/interpret plans and specifications.
- Working experience with Xactimate for Writing and drawing skills to review and/or complete inspection reports and documentation.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or other advanced certificate
- Demonstrated inspection and management experience with transportation, utility, transit, and/or building construction projects requiring monitoring a contractor's work for conformance to the design plans, specifications, and general permit requirements.
- Must have experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews; experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates and as-built drawings.
