Job Description Summary The Lead Engineer performs a role within the Gen IV Plant Systems Integration team which is focused on development of new nuclear advanced reactor projects (SFR, MHTGR, microreactors, and space reactors/propulsion). The candidate will work in a multiteam environment, working with partner organizations and suppliers to advance plant conceptual and detailed design and successfully deliver a new plants project. The candidate will produce an economically superior design by employing a balance of cutting edge and proven technologies and will be responsible for development and implementation of licensing and technical requirements along with the associated work processes for advanced work in new nuclear plants. The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Conducts component and system integration with overall new nuclear plant design. All activities that span multiple components and systems that are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance, operability, and design to cost. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drive the identification of V&V requirements at the plant, system, and component level. Responsible for defining plant-level design requirements for the systems, components, subcontractors and partner teams. Manages interface between systems, components and project/product management organizations. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics Minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering capacity Desired Characteristics MS or PhD in Engineering; Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil SRO Certification or License 6 years of commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities; Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems - OR- 6 years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience Licensed Professional Engineer Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, transient and accident analysis Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skills The salary range for this position is $87k-110k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
