Job Description: The Environmental Services (EVS) Manager directs supervisors and staff in maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation and appearance as established by the hospital or facility in accordance with facility and Joint Commission standards. This position provides leadership and vision to achieve departmental, facility and corporate goals. The EVS Manager creates a positive work environment and works with caregivers to resolve employee concerns and issues. This position is also responsible to keep management informed on the immediate condition of all areas. The EVS Manager coordinates across all Environmental Services departments in the system and assigned geographic area. Job Essentials 1. Develops, implements and manages annual capital/operating and personnel (FTE) budget for Environmental Services. Ensures competent and sufficient number of staff to meet service needs. Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals. 2. Responsible for Environmental Services performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS and other EVS specific accrediting and certifying bodies. 3. Functions as the communication link between senior management and front-line staff. 4. Facilitates collaborative problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines. 5. Effectively uses professional and organizational best practices to ensure the delivery of quality services. 6. Provides leadership to achieve appropriate bed turnaround times to support patient progression initiatives. 7. Evaluates EVS staff competency through use of performance reviews. 8. Manages and mentors EVS supervisors and provides professional development opportunities. 9. Responsible for EVS recruitment, retention, training and caregiver engagement. 10. Responsible for creating an effective department culture which promotes an engaged workforce. 11. Executes established leadership rounding plan. 12. Achieves operating results through implementation of strategic thinking and planning. Minimum Qualifications High School Education (GED) required. Education is verified. Three years of supervisory or management experience. - and - Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, supervise and delegate for a facility requiring services 24 hours per day, seven days per week. - and - Demonstrated management skills necessary to ensure effective and efficient use of personnel and leadership qualities. - and - Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and the ability to learn new software. - and - Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and other federal and state regulations. - and - Experience managing a budget within a department or facility. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or higher degree International Executive Housekeeping Association (IEHA) Certification Joint Commission experience - and - Experience working in a hospital setting - and - Institutional housekeeping experience Physical Requirements: Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information. - and - Operate computers and other equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. - and - See and read computer monitors and documents. - and - Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
