Position Overview

The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a dynamic, organized, detail-oriented Assistant Deputy Inspector General. This Assistant Deputy Inspector General will be responsible for supervising an investigation team engaged in the support and investigatory operations for the Northern Region. The Office of Inspector General assists individuals with physical, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and assists agencies and facilities in prevention efforts by investigating all reports of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment in a timely manner, to foster humane, competent, respectful, and caring treatment of individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate must have prior investigative experience and maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism. Requires the ability to travel.

Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as the Assistant Deputy Inspector General for Northern Regional Investigations of the OIG, with the full scope of processing activities and responsibilities.

2. Serves as full-line supervisor.

3. Develops and maintains effective working relations with agency staff, including the Office of Labor Relations.

4. Speaks on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General with other state agencies, local governments, advisory groups, and working committees.

5. Directs professional staff performing highly complex and specialized studies pertaining to the operations of the Office.

6. Directs, coordinates, and supervises planning and operations to ensure efficient and effective utilization of agency resources allocated to the Region.

7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college.

2. Requires four (4) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization.

Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)

1. Five (5) years of professional experience investigating administrative, civil, or criminal charges and the production of case reports in reference to such.

2. Five (5) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects while maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.

3. Five (5) years of professional experience utilizing investigation techniques and concepts.

4. Five (5) years of professional experience communicating in verbal or written form with both internal and external stakeholders.

5. Four (4) years of professional experience working in an investigative, law enforcement or prosecutorial organization.

6. Four (4) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.

7. Two (2) years of professional experience interviewing witnesses, collecting, and gathering data involving abuse/neglect and or malfeasance/misfeasance for a public or private organization.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
