In support of this vision, the Inventory Planner reports directly to the Central Warehouse Manager. The Inventory Planner serves as key staff to the Central Warehouse Manager for analyzing order requests from various ordering sites to determine proper courses of action to acquire materials and services in the most economical and timely fashion. Monitors the Central Warehouse ordering to maintain proper stock levels.

Essential Job Functions

Position Responsibilities

This position is responsible for reviewing daily and weekly SAP reports to maintain proper warehouse stock levels, reviews new and open orders from using departments to determine whether items can be purchased via an existing contract or to route to procurement ordering through an alternate method, prepares contracts by monitoring expiration dates and re-evaluating the need for the renewal or new contract requests, upon contract approval prepares procurement documents to initiate the renewal process or the request for a new contract, aids ordering sites providing operational assistance to determine the course of action to be taken for ordered material and returned materials, communicates with all departments at many levels in the process of providing goods and services.


  • Maintains stock levels by monitoring employee orders and initiates orders to contract vendors and to Procurement.
  • Alternate stock items as required by specific requests or based on increased or decreased usage.
  • Initiates and monitors contracts for various commodities and services.
  • Reconciles Central Warehouse reports to determine whether goods have been received by the ordering department.
  • Assists the using departments with placing requests using the proper SAP procedures
  • Monitors warehouse stock to identify and remove inventory that has become obsolete
  • Reviews MRP reports daily and adjusts inventory levels as needed
  • Reviews and monitors STO Reports
  • Develops policies and procedures for inventory management including damaged goods or expired items
  • Recommends improvements to inventory management system based on past results
  • Maintains accurate reporting for returns, rejections, and items requested, but not shipped.
  • Resolves supply contract problems, shipping and receiving discrepancies, and other issues that may arise.
  • Responsible for vendor invoicing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Central Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications


Position Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in inventory planning or general purchasing.
  • Data Entry and math skills required.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, accounting, and statistics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
  • Experience with SAP as it relates to material ordering and tracking payments and inventory.
