We are a small internal medicine concierge practice with 450 patients in Newport Beach. We are looking for a friendly and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator with back office medical assistant experience. In this role, you will greet patients, gather personal and insurance information. During the process, you will ensure the patient feels at ease and that you answer any questions they may have about our practice or scheduling options. We expect our Patient Care Coordinator to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and ensure patient information is confidential.
Patient Care Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients
- Gather personal information and update EMR.
- Obtain insurance information and verify coverage
- Explain out-of-pocket costs and available payment plans (as needed)
- Schedule appointments
- Coordinate referrals and diagnostic imaging appointments
- Perform effectively within the organization and interpersonally with co-workers
- Develop positive working relationships
- Maintain a clean and organized working station
- Stock office supplies
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations
- Back office duties (as needed)
- Vaccine/Medication administration (as needed)
- Phlebotomy (as needed)
- EKG (as needed)
- Managing the patient experience from check-in to check-out
The Patient care coordinator will also be asked to step outside of your routine duties to meet unexpected challenges to patient care from time-to-time. We are deeply committed to the personal and professional development of our team members.
Patient Care Coordinator Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Medical Assistant Diploma
- 1 years of health care front office, intake, or billing experience
- Back Office Medical Assistant experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
