The Position
Lead Plant OperatorJob Summary
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for training all employees and temporary employees per the site’s training plan. Arrange training programs and maintains records of these training sessions.
- Ensures the employees adhere to safety, environmental rules, and policies and procedures of Imerys.
- Coordinating with Production Supervisors and helping to implement all 6S projects.
- Helping with physical inventory counts throughout the month.
- Works with maintenance to maintain spare parts inventory. Coordinates with the Production Supervisor to order new parts as needed.
- Assists with monitoring and troubleshooting operating equipment.
- Ensures plant and employees are working at maximum efficiency to ensure maximum production.
- Ensures employees are following shift schedules to ensure proper coverage and to eliminate unauthorized overtime.
- Ensures that product testing is completed such as gradations and density testing and products are within required specifications.
- Identifies process deviation and performs root cause/corrective action.
- Unloading and/or assisting with unloading of rail cars.
- Inspects property/plant and communicates with Production Supervisors and maintenance regarding proper ground keeping, general cleanup, and maintenance issues.
- Assists Production Supervisor in scheduling customer’s loads for the month in production.
- Works directly with the production line to meet demand & targets.
- Daily inventory walks to confirm orders for the day are actually on the floor before shipping begins.
- Conducts a last pass quality check to ensure no torn bags, broken pallets, incorrect counts are shipped out to the customers.
- Takes part in the interview process of potential new employees with Production Supervisors.
- Assumes the responsibilities of Plant Operator, Assistant Plant Operator, and Forklift as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor to assist with other areas as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Must be able to operate a forklift, light truck, and other related motorized equipment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- One year or related employment in a warehouse environment utilizing a forklift.
