Role Overview
The Test Lab Manager is responsible for testing of prototype and NPI products, managing lab priorities and team along with quality responsibilities including testing, RMA investigations and resolutions.
**Work Location:**Auburn, WA
Key Responsibilities
Perform pneumatic and electronic testing to engineering specifications on new and existing products
Prototype, troubleshoot, and make recommendations for product improvements in partnership with engineering team
Complete RMA tasks as assigned, not limited to investigations and resolutions
Complete Quality Testing as assigned
Programming involved for LabView
Designing new ways to test parts
Understand test specifications – able to read and interpret engineering documentation
Manage lab technician
Perform standard/experimental test procedures
Set up and operate instruments, instrumentation, data acquisition
Collect and analyze test data
Prepare DVP&R and schedule for testing
Develop and document test methods and plans
Design and build the fixtures required for product testing
Perform root cause analysis for product or process issues
Support Lab and Quality teams at various IMI sites for urgent customer issues
Assemble product prototypes per project requirements
Responsible for lab operations
Responsible for equipment maintenance and calibration
Train direct reports on testing and documentation requirements
Participate and contribute to Design reviews
Other duties as assigned.
Critical Competencies for Success
Associate degree in a technical field
Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in a comparable setting.
Knowledge and experience with commercial vehicle products are desirable.
Working knowledge of pneumatics, electronics and laboratory equipment including pressurized air sources & delivery systems, pressure & flow measurement equipment and electronic measuring devices.Working knowledge of measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, digital readout devices and multi-meters.
Knowledge of basic statistics, reliability analysis and design of experiments is desirable.
Ability to write business correspondence and procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subordinates, peers, managers, and customers.
Understanding of commonly used industry standards – SAE, ISO, MIL-STD etc.
Should be able to use Personal computer and applications like Excel, Power point and Word.
Knowledge of 3D CAD software like Solidworks.
Knowledge of 3D printing and prototyping.
Can read mechanical/electrical schematics, solder, and Arduino programming.
Must be able to procure test supplies.
Knowledge of DAQ/Data Collection system like LabView is highly desirable.
Knowledge of CAN BUS analyzer tools like Vector.
Should be able to follow workplace safety measures for handling and disposal of chemicals like motor oil, diesel etc.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
