Western Paper Distributors is a division of Imperial Dade with locations in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Western Paper has a rare opening for a Senior Accountant. In this role you will be responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts, performing month-end close activities and producing company financial statements. This position is for a self-starter who understands debits and credits, the importance of reconciliations and has a financial background to review, dissect and analyze data and trends.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities include:
- GL Accounting.
- Maintain all accounts
- Reconcile to sub-ledgers
- Reconciliations
- Month-end close process
- Recording transactions from secondary systems into the general ledger.
- Post closing entries.
- Review for errors / corrections
- Prepare monthly schedules and reports
- Variation / opportunity analysis
- Financial analysis
- Assisting with annual audit. Provide supporting workpapers, and resolving findings, discrepancies and non-compliance issues.
- Budgeting. Assist with budget creation, variance analysis, and monitoring.
- Sales tax – Understand and apply sales tax rules to ensure proper tax is charged on customer invoices. Resolve sales tax questions and issue sales tax adjustments as needed.
Additional Responsibilities include:
- Provide support to AP as needed
- Unclaimed property processing
- Process development and improvement
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Accouting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- GAAP
- Sales tax knowledge
- Independent work (part of a team but most work is done independent of others on the team)
- Ability to prioritize and plan weekly activities to hit deliverables.
- High attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong communication skills
- One-on-one meetings to communicate findings from analysis
- Clear communication with outside parties (Outside vendors, Corporate FP&A, Customers, etc.)
- Clear and concise written communication.
