What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineering Manager position at Imperva?
In this dynamic role, we are looking for an experienced Sales Engineering (SE) Manager who has provided technical presales expertise to key F100 accounts, has managed presales teams, and is looking to join a company to make a difference. SE Managers work as part of the global sales seam, and oversee sales support of Imperva's application and data security/compliance solutions to existing and prospective accounts.
The SE Manager is an integral part of the sales organization, is responsible for the development of the Sales Engineers and assists the sales team with presales technical knowledge and presentations. He/she works closely with sales leaders, prospects, and channel partners as a subject-matter expert to improve the sales engineering processes to meet and exceed customer requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Direct the Sales Engineering efforts, leading technical resources to assist the Sales team in winning new customers and maximizing revenue.
- Manage the Imperva Sales Engineering team. Set objectives, measure performance, and reward productivity in the Sales Engineering team.
- Work with current and new presales engineers to help coach, mentor, and improve so they may accurately represent Imperva products in presales activities to prospective customers and accelerate sales.
- Manage Sales Engineering employee issues such as interviewing, hiring, training, professional development, terminations etc.
- Participate in sales conference calls and prospect visits, providing product demonstrations in person and via Zoom, and working with prospects at both a technical and business level to show how Imperva’s solutions can provide value to them.
- Participate as a technical resource at trade shows and conferences when needed.
- Work with the sales team to strategize on sales approaches to develop and close business.
- Ensure successful product evaluations and post-sale installations when necessary.
- Assign quarterly and annual objectives.
- Manage projects and customer engagements to optimize success.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3 years SE management or regional director experience
- 7 years of experience in security or software industry, development, presales engineering, or real world use of data, web, or API application solutions; preferably with 5 of these as a sales engineer and experience working in a start-up and vendor environment
- Possess a solid understanding of the cloud, applications, databases, security, and auditing environments
- Knowledge in structured, semi-structured, and unstructured databases
- Knowledge in application or API development (.NET, JavaScript, Python, Java, SQL, etc.)
- Practical Experience with Linux
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, Load balancers, proxies, and firewalls
- Compliance standards knowledge (PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR) – an advantage
- Able to effectively present technical material to small and large groups at different levels.
- Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written, oral communication and strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
- Must be able to travel over 50% of the time
