Position Overview
This role requires working across technical and customer domains in a variety of physical environments both remotely and at the job site. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to customer calls for service, identifying and troubleshooting controls system hardware, software, and telemetry issues, and resolving those issues. Candidates should have relevant experience in controls systems, an aptitude for learning new skills, and the ability to self-manage work with limited supervision.
The position offers competitive pay and an excellent comprehensive benefits package including paid time off. The position will be on call periodically, and regional trips with potential overnight stays may be required (total travel up to 60%).
Responsibilities and Duties
- Review electrical schematics, network diagrams, and process instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot and remedy customers’ malfunctioning controls equipment, communications systems (including radios), and Program Logic Controller (PLC) software.
- Modify control system logic and visualization using PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
- Review controls system design and operation documentation provided to customer.
- Field start-up and commissioning of controls systems at customer sites.
- Act as customer’s point of contact for service work.
- Report work progress and complete Service Reports (SRs).
- Project coordination and communication internally within In Control and externally with customers, construction contractors, consulting engineers, vendors, and other partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Experience in application programming and integration across a variety of hardware/software platforms.
- Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications skills with coworkers and customers.
- Two-year degree in relevant technical field and two years’ experience in control system programming.
- Ability and willingness to travel to sites in South Dakota, southwestern Minnesota, and northwestern Iowa.
- Comfortable working in the field at customer locations and in a variety of construction site conditions.
Technical Capabilities
- Proficiency programming and commissioning Rockwell Automation products and/or Schneider, GE, etc. required.
- Working knowledge of electrical control panel design, MCC’s, VFD’s, and process instrumentation.
- Experience and ability to troubleshoot industrial radio systems.
- Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project).

Pay: $23.46 - $28.25 per hour
