What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Nurse position at Indian Health Service?
The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the overall management of the emergency department for the Lawton Indian Hospital. This position is supervised by the Chief Nurse Executive Officer and/or the Assistant Nurse Executive.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

- Education: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School:Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
- Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must submit a copy of nursing license that includes an expiration date.
- Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof.

GS-11: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-11 level:
- Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of professional nursing experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, AND possess a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or master's degree in nursing from a professional nursing educational program. Professional nursing experience includes the following type of work and/or tasks: Making patient care assignments for RNs, LPNs, and non-licensed support staff appropriate to skill or licensure level; overseeing work flow on a patient care unit; contributing to unit policy development; leading a performance improvement project or being responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting PI data for a patient care department.
- Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field;

Responsibilities:
- Assists the Nurse Manager in developing policies, procedures and department goals and objectives.
- Develops nursing guidelines and/or standard operating procedures.
- Work with physicians or other members of the medical team to provide quality patient care.
- Prepare various types work schedules, i.e., regular, compressed, etc., for Nursing departmental staff.
