Indiana County
The Warden performs the managerial functions associated with directing the overall operations and activities of the Indiana County jail, including policy/procedure enforcement, budget, planning, inmate custody and control, records management, and treatment programs. The facility operates under direct supervision design and management concept. Officers are assigned posts within the housing units, where they directly observe and interact with inmates assigned to the housing unit. The maximum inmate population is 256 and employs approximately 75 individuals and additionally has contracted individuals at the jail. A minimum of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Behavioral Sciences, or closely related field; supplemented by six (6) years previous experience and/or training that includes progressively responsible levels of correctional management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, accreditation (AJA or NCCHC) and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Additional Position Information:
-Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; review performance appraisals prepared by staff members.
-Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes (Title 37), laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
-Develops and implements operating, capital, and revenue budgets for the facility; monitors expenditures.
-Reviews and responds to inmate grievances and appeals. Monitors disciplinary actions.
-Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
