What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Technician position at Indium Corporation of America?
JOB SUMMARY: The Packaging Technician is responsible for ensuring accurate, cost-conscience, and sustainable packaging including, but not limited to selection, function, and effectiveness. Minimization of excess labor burden is a key goal of the Packaging Technician.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):
- Develop packaging for products by analyzing and testing materials
- Actively gain knowledge of Indium Corporation products and services
- Research to explore and identify current trends and best practices related to packaging
- Work with manufacturing to test and implement packaging
- Implement systems that aid in packaging efficiencies, mitigate quality issues, and minimize costs
- Provide cost estimates for new product/packaging types
- Accurately calculate geometry to provide packaging estimates
- Access, navigate, and update data using various systems and software, including Microsoft Office applications, and current ERP system
- Populate packaging work instructions for repeatability
- Collaborate with Product Configuration team to create accurate package-level configuration item records
- Partner with Procurement and Engineering departments to reduce risk(s) of packaging constraints or obsolescence
- Attend training as needed or assigned
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree in technical discipline preferred
- PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- At least (1) year related work and/or education
- Ability to communicate in a clear, organized and professional manner both written and oral form
- Ability to perform under pressure
