JOB SUMMARY: The Strategic Human Resource Business Partner (SHRBP) operates from Global HQ, in Central NY, and reports directly to the AVP HR; and is an instrumental partner in international HR initiatives including but not limited to start-ups, acquisitions, incorporations, global mobility, and daily operations. Whether acting-as, supplementing or supporting local HR operations outside the USA; you will be collaborating with local HR and site leadership teams worldwide, helping ensure our international teams are well-equipped for optimal success. Your daily activities may include supporting various HR activities including daily operations, special programming and strategic initiatives. You will serve as the liaison and primary point-of-contact for HR teams outside the USA, so whether you are assisting with general questions, partnering with managers and vendors on operational items like workforce planning and talent management or payroll and benefit administration, or collaborating on special local or corporate projects, you always strive to be a valued corporate and cultural ambassador and are always working to foster a sense of community and comradery, melding corporate guidance together with local practices and requirements; and building strong relationships with all you teammates.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

  • Strategic Partner and People Operations Champion for assigned sites
    • Introduce, lead or collaborate with local leadership team on workforce management initiatives such as but not limited to planning, recruiting, orienting, onboarding, job training, performance evaluations, development plans, transfers and promotions, succession plans for as well as processing employee retirements, resignations, terminations.
    • Ensure supervisory staff are equipped for success with HR training and support
    • Ensure, establish and/or oversee
      • payroll & benefits administration including time & attendance
      • programming such as wellbeing, volunteerism and diversity
      • corporate townhall meetings and local employee appreciation events
    • Provide employee relations coaching including complaint investigations and resolutions
    • Collaborate with partners to ensure effective, sustainable and compliant operations
      • Finance on matters of taxation, insurance, claims, funding, payments, grants
      • Communications and Marketing on announcements, advertising, branding, PR
      • Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Facilities on workplace safety including PPE programs, training, incident/accident reports, investigations, worker compensation, leaves and returns to work and compliance
      • Legal for regulations, employment practices, consultation and representation
    • As-needed manage HR vendors from concept to contracts, operations, billing, feedback
      • Practice compliance with local, regional and national labor law including employment policies, awareness and training, documentation, notices, reporting, auditing and record keeping including files, access control and retention
      • Audit, update, produce and implement policies, handbooks, forms, notices, recruiting and any other electronic or printed materials, including required training
  • Lead or Support Corporate Projects for international operations
    • Act as HR Manager until contracted or direct local HR operations are established then shift to advising and supporting, as-needed, to sustain and meet business demands
    • Serve as or support the local in-country HR-points-of-contact for new acquisitions or mergers, expansions, incorporations or other corporate-level undertakings that affect local HR operations outside the USA
    • Conduct audits, benchmarking or assessments if-needed, as-needed
    • Work with HR Team members globally to produce standardized HR KPIs at scheduled interval, and to respond to and coordinate production of additional on-demand, non-standard reporting as-needed
  • Manages USA Work Authorization Program
    • Strategies, filings, records, training, I9 audits, responding to 3rd party audits or queries plus builds and maintains strong relationships with employees, advisors and regulators
  • Globality Mobility Management and Coordination for cross-border assignments
    • Lead process from concept to closure
    • Coordinate hosting and support for employee and family; transferring into USA roles; assist with travel and introductions to area, facilities and future coworkers, obtain transportation and housing, visit local schools, general community integration. For transfer out of USA to roles in other countries; collaborate with other sites.
    • Ensure smooth, warm, welcoming integration
    • Documentation and services including SS, driver license, tax prep
  • Emergency response team participation to ensure safety and mitigate disruptions
  • Assist with business travel expenses management policies and processes as-needed
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, International Business or other related fields of study required.
  • International business experience preferred
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification desired; HRCI SPHRi or GPHR preferred
  • Demonstrable cross-cultural interest, engagement and experience
  • For international integration best-fit candidate will be an early-bird who prefers to start their day between 6AM – 7AM; and be able to flex work schedule as-needed to support scheduled or urgent needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Upbeat personality with can-do drive to help others
  • Current passport and availability to travel up to 2 times per year for 1-2 weeks at a time.
