Job Description
This position is anticipated to require the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
Qualifications:
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
• Experience in database layout, theory and structure.
• Experience with No-SQL DB is a nice to have
• Understanding of difference between logical and physical data models, including the proven ability to create valid third normal form data models, and then appropriately de-normalize them for physical performance requirements.
• Experience with ER/win data modeling tool required. Experience with Model Mart, XML, Metadata Repository desired.
• Experience in Financial Institutions and/or Mortgage Operations / Credit Card industry is HIGHLY desirable.
• Strong communication skills. Good analytical skills.
• Knowledge of more than one database, and the ability to articulate implementation differences between them.
Roles and Responsibity:
• Data Modeling
• Speak with users, gather data requirements, and transform them into a normalized logical data model for all new projects and changes to existing databases.
• Generate DDL and validate that the DDL is implemented properly.
• Participate in the denormalization of the data model, ensuring that business rules which are compromised during denormalization are implemented via an alternate mechanism (i.e. trigger, application code). Work with the Developer and DBA to create an appropriate First-Cut Physical Data Model.
• Mentor Data Modelers in proper data modeling techniques, the DRB process, the location and definition of data across business areas within the Line of Business.
• Maintain appropriate Version Control on data models.
• General
• Stay current on industry trends in data modeling, data architecture, and data movement. This includes utilization of the current tools, protocols and data movement methods (i.e. XML, MQ), standards on data (i.e. ISO standards for common data types).
• Understand all Data Standards, communicate those standards to the Application Development groups, Technical Operations groups, and appropriate Business Community. Present Data Architecture proposals and data models that comply with those standards.
• Establish and Maintain a good working relationship with the Developers and DBAs.
• Recommend proper locations for data, with replication plans, based on sizing, SLA, retention strategy, etc.
