Brief Description of Job Duties: A Business Analyst is the State's key contact and knowledge specialist for business units in department. Work is of a highly diverse and complex nature, characterized by a broad range of activities and frequently changing conditions, situations and problems. An individual must be self-starting, motivated & able to work independently by setting & meeting goals relative to specific situations and business needs. Analytical thought is vital at this level due to ever changing technology and increased emphasis on meeting business needs through its proper implementation. Work involves assessing the business’ IT service request characteristics, ensuring that the IT service request process is followed, i.e., defining the problem, conducting a needs analysis, researching potential solutions, and applying industry best practices. General Duties: Collaborate with business to determine the objective of their IT service request and document the business requirements to facilitate implementation of new or improved processes/systems. Challenge business to think outside the normal processes and promote efficiency in the way of doing business. Identify business strengths and opportunities and offer recommendations based on research for areas of improvement. Plan, organize and deliver work sessions for gathering business requirements. Review and edit requirements and business processes, as necessary, based on proposed solutions. Facilitate the research and evaluation of possible system solutions.
Roles AndResponsibilities:
Custodian of IT service request process from end to end. Manage change request in service request scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans. Effectively communicate and champion service request expectations with business and HS-EBIT staff in a timely and clear fashion. Conduct monthly and as needed status meetings with business for updates and prioritization of work efforts. Collaborate with application development staff on design, development and defect management. Collaborate with testing staff on test criteria and test plans. Collaborate with project management staff on designated projects. Specific Duties: * Assist the business in developing technical solutions to business problems. * Define, analyze and document requirements. * Managing those requirements through the development cycle. * Communicating clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. * Use requirements to drive the design or review of test cases, process change requests, and manage a project’s scope, acceptance, installation and deployment. * Program Research: o Information Request Documents ? Gather all documents needed for research. * SharePoint searching * Seeking out documents and information from business and IT teams via email and meetings o Meetings with Business ? Conduct meetings with Business Leads to identify: * Functions of each Business Area * Who are the Subject Matter Experts? * Act as a liaison to the business for work efforts. * Conduct coordination meetings discussing service request status and priorities. * Preferred communication route to request information or answers to questions from Business Area and to whom. Experience required: Four years of experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative or administrative data. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Preferred – Knowledge of Department for Children and Families. Child Support Services business area. Education required: Preferred - BA/BS degree in Business Administration/Management, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science.
