Principal Engineer

JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE

The Principal Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and executing special engineering projects.

Salary range: $90-$110K, depending on level of experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops and executes new engineering project/program plans. Writes specifications for new products. Requisitions equipment needed for special projects and custom jobs.
• Reviews product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements and related specifications. Implements design, construction and testing of prototypes.
• Advises Field Service Technicians on engineering related issues during remote assignments. Provides functional and structural support for manufacturing. Analyzes customer problems and provides design modifications.
• Provides mast cost structures and technical proposal formats to sales and marketing teams. Provides resources for special projects as required. Supports the R & D group as needed.
• Represents the company at trade association meetings and exhibitions to promote products. Write and presents technical papers at meetings/conferences.
• May manage contract engineers and drafting personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience related experience operating medium duty equipment for construction and maintenance activities.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred). Air Brakes Endorsement from state of Connecticut. Confined Space Awareness and Entry. Hazardous Communication Awareness. Boom Truck Operations. Other licenses may vary according to specific site and assignments.

Technical: Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet & CMMS Systems. Advanced knowledge of control loops, flow meters and process instrumentation. Root Cause Failure Analysis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: frequently lift 50-60 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
