ESG Operations is currently seeking an experienced Wastewater Operator in Vicksburg, MS. As Wastewater Operator you will be responsible for the successful operations of the wastewater plant, including maintenance of equipment, monitoring treatment process, data collection and lab procedures. Daily activities will include routine work in the wastewater plant, basic process control decisions, minor preventive maintenance and housekeeping. We would like you to have a Wastewater Operator license in Mississippi but will consider Operator in Training applicants with relevant experience and/or education..
Schedule: This is a 5 day per week day-shift position that will require the ability to work some weekends.
As a Wastewater Operator on our team, you will:
- Operate wastewater plants, monitoring all equipment and chemicals to ensure effluent water meets applicable standards
- Collect and record data for record maintenance and reporting to designated state agencies
- Monitor treatment process for compliance, inspect equipment, monitor conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and functionality
- Work in multiple plants and on different shifts as needed
Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License, Water/Wastewater Operator’s License or ability to acquire within 12 months of hire. Other licenses may vary according to specific site and assignments.
Technical: Ability to follow manual & operating instructions. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications & internet. Basic knowledge of water/wastewater operations.
Communication: Communicates clearly & professionally. Contributes to a positive internal & external customer experience. Willing to help others. Maintains composure in challenging situations.
Problem Solving & Quality: Pays attention to detail. Identifies & solves problems. Escalates issues accordingly. Checks work for quality.
Managing for Results: Works well with supervision. Takes projects to completion. Follows all company policies & SOPs. Manages multiple tasks.

Physical Demands: Must be able to: frequently lift 50-60 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
