Overview: The Civil Engineer performs professional engineering work including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision. The primary responsibility of the Civil Engineer is to manage project engineering and document control from the site field office concentrating on the schedule, budget updates, correspondence logs, and requests for information.
Responsibilities
Includes, but not limited to, the following:
*Prepares design computations, plans and related construction documents.
*Prepares reports, specifications, studies, and permits.
*Analyzes and interprets variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
*Assists in analyzing and interpreting engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
*Prepares quantity calculations and cost estimates.
*Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
*Performs construction observation and prepares appropriate documentation.
*Organizes and maintains project files and documentation.
*Assists in preparation and presentation of technical information to colleagues and clients.
*Assists Project, Design and/or Office Managers as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
*Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
*Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
*Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
*Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Marketing, Business Development, and Recruitment Initiatives
*Seeks out and targets potential clients and new sales opportunities.
*Actively engage clients on a consistent basis to maintain and promote work.
*Assists in the recruitment of new hires.
*Promotes and fosters excellence in all aspects of securing work for the firm and the delivery of services.
Minimum Qualifications
*Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering required.
*Minimum three years of relevant transportation design experience - including but not limited to roadway, highway and/or bridges
*Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
*EIT preferred
