Summary: Coordinates the procurement of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties.
2. Basic Functions
Coordinates all activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery. Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed. Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodity.
Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Selects suppliers based on quality, cost and delivery capabilities as well as quality system and supplier manual evaluations.
Negotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs. Actively pursue and achieve cost down year over year with target of 5%.
Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations. Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
Performs Administrative functions such as purchase order entry, purchase order mailing, filing, etc. associated with the day to day activities of the purchasing department.
Works closely and effectively with engineering, sales and manufacturing to understand, develop and implement control systems and trigger points to allow smooth materials flow as well as minimize inventories.
Works to reduce inventories year over year through supplier and internal flow and delivery management techniques.

Education/Experience:
Bachelors or Associate degree with emphasis in Business/Purchasing management or 5 years experience in purchasing function.
Thorough negotiations and communications skills.
Familiar with the practices of lean management initiatives such as KANBAN, point of use replenishment systems, value stream mapping, kaizen, 5s, etc.

Salary : $68,400 - $86,600
