Summary:
The Junior Industrial Designer is part of inMusic's Industrial Design department and reports directly to the ID Assistant Manager. This role contributes to our products' aesthetic and ergonomic development, working directly with our engineers, contract manufacturers, and product management teams to explore, innovate, and execute world-class consumer electronic products.
Essential Functions:
- Execute and translate project goals into relevant design solutions under the direction of the ID Assistant Manager
- Work with multi-functional teams to contribute product solutions using design thinking processes
- Research and explore projects, a wide range of design options, and new product ideas
- Ability to rapidly explore a wide variety of design options; including forms, colors, finishes, and materials
- Create compelling designs based upon ideation, research, and product requirements
- Manage multiple design projects and daily design tasks and assist prototype preparation
- Effectively communicate concepts and ideas through verbal, visual, and written means
- Review samples and update design assets in various development stages
Requirements
Required Education & Experience:
- BA or BID or better in Industrial Design
Preferred Education & Experience:
- 2-4 years of design experience
- In-House Design Team experience
Required Technical Experience:
- MS Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Adobe Creative Suite
- SolidWorks
- Keyshot
- Excellent hand sketch skill
- Machine/model shop capability
Preferred Technical Experiences:
- Knowledge or interest in speaker technology and/or consumer electronics
- Knowledge or experience in music production and/or performing electronic musical instruments
