Shipping Coordinator - Weekly Pay, 2nd Shift (3PM-11PM)

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in the coordination of timely and accurate shipping and receiving functions and documents.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keeps all skids and cartons for scheduled shipment including labeling, skid or carton preparation, shipment record keeping, and transfer to carrier.
• Keeps the Lead Shipping/Receiving Clerk informed of status and progress of work and of unusual problems.
• Checks the accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents. Traces lost or delayed shipments; initiates claims for loss or damage. Audits plant shipping invoices for accuracy of commodity classifications/rates.
• Gathers and maintains all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
• Helps maintain shipping directories and guides.
• Ensures that receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders and that shipping counts match packing documents. Ensures proper labels and tickets have been applied before shipping.
• Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
• Collects all documentation for inbound freight and routes to the proper record keeping unit.
• Directs and oversees pallet control and exchanges.
• Reports any problems, potential problems, hazardous situations that may exist or any other pertinent information that may help the department improve its efficiency and productivity.
• Reads Material Safety Data Sheets for proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
• Maintains good security habits at dock doors.
• Performs other tasks as may be required or requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
• Must be able to exercise good judgment and decision-making.
• Verbal communication skills are required as well as ability to read and write.

2nd shift 3pm-11pm
