Job Summary: The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for inventory management and procurement including the acquisition of products, materials, and services required for the company's operations. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of high-quality goods, and optimizing inventory levels to meet business needs. The Supply Chain Specialist will work closely with various departments, including production, logistics, and finance, to ensure a seamless supply chain process.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings.
- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure the best possible deals.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Ensure compliance with supplier agreements.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Forecast future inventory needs based on sales trends, seasonal demands, and production schedules.
- Apply and maintain part number system to effectively categorize, search and locate parts based and configure products, generate BOM.
- Examine products upon receiving and record issues.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Add information and attributes to parts to ensure proper production processes are established.
- Order Processing and Management:
- Prepare and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Track and manage orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any delays or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper receipt and storage of goods.
- Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Monitor and manage procurement budgets.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.\
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Ensure purchase orders and contracts are in compliance with all supply chain sourcing standards, corporate policies/procedures, business requirements, federal and state laws and regulations, and safety compliance standards.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams, including production, logistics, and finance, to align procurement activities with business needs.
- Work with product management and technical services to ensure compliance standards are accommodated and handle engineering and special option questions.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on procurement status and address concerns. Escalate planning and procurement conflicts as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or inventory control.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement, ERP software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards, including ISO.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
Work Environment
- This position typically works in an office environment with occasional visits to warehouses or supplier locations.
- Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits and industry conferences.
